I decided to do galaxy and weather together.

 Most of the individual pieces are galaxy and the connections are weather. 

I used all my own hand spun yarn to make this cocoon cardigan.

I chose Hyperbolic as a pattern in nature. Hyperbolic is a way to use the mathematical geometric principle, hyperbolic plane or spiral, in crochet. 

All my pieces are created with my own handspun yarn using silk, alpaca, wool or mohair.

Fred the Cactus from Texas 

Being from Texas, I just had to do my cactus, Fred, in freeform crochet.

Fred was purchased in a store's sale pile for a dollar. He does not seem to like other cacti near him as they die when put next to him. They can be anywhere else in the room just not next to him.

I chose orange as my color. I have been wanting to try Irish crochet so all the motifs are Irish crochet motifs. And since I like to make bags all the time it got made into a bag.  The lining is also orange, which can be seen thru some of the motifs.

This is what Edvard Munch said about 'The Scream': 

"I walked along the road with two friends then the sun went down the sky suddenly became blood and I felt the great scream in nature"

I figured most people had never heard this and wanted to share it.The Scream is my favorite painting, and I also enjoy some of Munch's other works. I really enjoyed creating this freeform piece for this year's book.

Texas and its Flag
